2 out of 5 stars Boring, uninspired platformer   June 18, 2007
4 out of 5 found this review helpful

Rayman has usually had a good track record over the past few years, and when Rayman Raving Rabbids was released on the launch of the Wii, it helped show what Nintendo's new system was capable of. It has been subsequently released on other systems with varying results, and now it's on the GBA too. Trading the collection of whacky mini-games for a tried but true platformer, Rayman Raving Rabbids is boring and uninspired, which is quite disappointing considering Ubi Soft's mascot has made for some good adventures on the GBA. The best feature of the game is that Rayman himself looks great and there are colorful and fluid graphics throughout, but beyond that the game is a dud. The game's 25 stages are relatively easy to get through and offer little in the way of a challenge or decent level design either. The platforming elements are marred by sloppy control mechanics, and the whacky Rabbids that made the console versions so great are hardly used to their extent here. Not to mention that the mini-games, which the console versions relied upon so much to make them so good, are shortened in between stages and aren't nearly as fun as anything to be found on the other versions as well. All in all, Rayman Raving Rabbids is an overly boring and uninspired platformer that doesn't nearly do the character the justice it should. Plus, with so many other, superior, platformers available for the GBA, this is better left on the shelf.
