3 out of 5 stars Best 3D Sonic   July 25, 2007

This game is broken down into three components. There is the adventure mode that is quite subpar, minigames that are mediocre, and finally the stages that are very fun to play. Once you clear a stage or minigame on the adventure mode, it unlocks and you may just play it by itself from the main menu when the game boots up. You may play as 6 different characters, all with their own unique stories, stages, and minigames. I thought this was a brilliant implementation of the game. Although, admittedly the Sonic and Tails stages are way more fun the the stages for Big the Cat, Knuckles, or the robot. The Amy stages are somewhere in the middle.

The controls are somewhat frustrating at times, particularly in the adventure mode. The NPC humans in the adventure mode look downright like stick figures graphically, and stand there like manequins unless you knock into them. Then they flinch for a moment and go right back to their original position.

The adventure mode plays like an exploration game. You must figure out what to do to get to the next cutscene, minigame, or stage. You must find the object or area that will take you to it. This is a rather mundane and boring, sometimes frustrating, part of the game.

Sometimes the camera angles in this game make it so you can not see your character or get any sense of direction. Again, this is most often in the adventure mode.

The cutscenes in the adventure mode are well presented and timed. The fade from the adventure mode to the cutscenes is well paced. The graphics look great, and soundtrack well performed.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the sonic characters, as you can play and develop so many of them. If you like action or 3D platformer type games, you will probably enjoy this game as well.

This game is definitely worth a play though to see if you like it. I did, I own it, have beaten the game with several of the characters, and still enjoy playing it to this day. However, this game is hardly the best the Dreamcast has to offer.

5 out of 5 stars best sonic game ever   May 30, 2007
forget about mario 64 with its small words, you can run miles in better graphic in this game. True to its 2D predicesors in story and action, this game continues the story while actualy making sense in how you get from world to world. I think it is the best game ever. (i like it and play it so mutch that i could almost play it blindfolded)

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Game!!   March 8, 2007

This is one of the best games on dreamcast. The graphics are great and the gameplay is amazing. Their are many levels which are very colorful, and keep you play it until you beat it. I like how you can play with different characters each from a different point of view. I recommend this game to all gamers.

5 out of 5 stars Sonic's best 3-D Game.   October 1, 2006
Sonic went 3-d some years back, but he was very hard to contoll! now, sonic is back with all his friends in this unexpectadly good game.

PLOT:::
Sonic and friends battle it out to stop evil Dr. Robonic from getting all 7 chaos emeralds and feeding them to his watery like pat Chaos.

you get to play as 6 characters from the sonic series introducing BIG the Cat.

each character overlaps the plot. but in doing so, you learn more and more things you couldn't learn from one character alone.

also, this game introduses the Chao a cute little creature that can turn into animals and race. their fun to play with when the game gets frustrating. ((note that the Chao garden is much better in Sonic Adventure 2))

the music in this game i phenominal! i usually hate video game music, but this game has some rock, and lots of vocal parts.

to finish up this reveiw, Sonic Adventure is a must buy for any fan of the games or the newer show Sonic X.

5 out of 5 stars Who DOESN'T love this game?   July 26, 2006
Seriously, man. This is the SECOND greatest Sonic game of ALL time! (The first being Sonic Adventure 2) Yes, I own a 4 day old copy of the original Dreamcast version and I have already beaten it. It's just SO addictive! And the sense of speed is amazing! (For Sonic at least) This version is a bit faster than the Gamecube version because Sonic Team sorta traded some of the speed for a more "shinier" graphic effect. But after all the good things are said and done...

That leaves some room for the bad things...

For one the game is sadly very short. It should take you less than a week to complete. Next, some of the character's storylines are pretty mediocre (Well, actually, the ONLY ones I really hated were Big's and Amy's). Lastly, if you're looking for a challenge, look somewhere else. This game is EXTREMELY easy!

But all and all, Sonic Adventure truly is a magnificent piece of work. This title had the special flavor that made the Dreamcast such an awesome system. I highly recommend Sonic Adventure to anyone looking forward to a good thrill.

You won't regret getting this game.
